SEC complete critical electrical project at Imjin Barracks, Gloucester
SEC completes electrical engineering job for MoD - Imjin

SEC are proud to finish another job for the MOD – SEC Ltd has recently completed a critical electrical power shutdown of HP Data Centre at Imjin Barracks, Gloucester, managed by our Electrical Contracts Manager Dave Shepherd. The emergency works were required to carry out modifications to the electrical system in order to maintain the MOD licence for their classified and restricted data traffic.

The scheduling and completion of the works was of paramount importance given that this data centre was the primary hub for all personal communications traffic to the British Army in Afghanistan via the manned 24 hour call centre connected to the data centre. SEC are pleased to confirm that the scheduled shutdown and works went without a hitch and resulted in the data centre being brought back online and functioning within the 48 hour window of opportunity and to the accolade of both the client and the sites MOD representatives.

This was by the commitment shown by the SEC engineers, only achieved by working around the clock using our in house labour from both the local Swindon office and by sending engineers from our Hook Head Office.

High Voltage Installation at Kent International Airport

The installation of new 11Kv packaged substation for Kent International Airport was carried out as full high voltage turnkey package by SEC in-house engineers from design through to completion. Including all civil works, procurement and installation of switchgear and commissioning.   Due to the location of the sub-station local planning permission was sought – this was also overseen by the SEC project team and the integration into the site infrastructure had to be carefully co-ordinated with the site being an operation airport.
